 Diabetic sweets. Sugar-free chocolate and boiled sweets. These are suitable for diabetics because they don't contain any sugars, such as sucrose or glucose. Diabetics either lack insulin, or cannot properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is released into the blood to promote the uptake of glucose, the basic sugar that fuels the body cells and provides energy. A lack of insulin causes the blood sugar levels to rise dangerously high. Blood sugar (glucose) is formed by the body by breaking down carbohydrates, fats and protein in the diet. A planned diet is essential for a diabetic to keep blood sugar levels normal, and this can be helped by avoiding sweets unless they are sugar-free.
